KUCHING: More essential food items are being delivered to the rural community affected by the movement control order (MCO).

Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, in his Facebook post, said the Bintulu Community Service Centre had distributed essential goods to the poor and single mothers yesterday.

He said the food items such as rice, cooking oil, canned food, biscuits, coffee and tea would also be distributed to the needy in the Bintulu parliamentary constituency.

He said the distribution would be done in stages and he urged the residents to be patient.

On assisting the frontliners, Tiong said surgical masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), face shields and surgical stockings would be distributed to the medical staff immediately.

“After weeks of leasing with China to produce thousands of these items, thank God they have finally arrived in Bintulu from Guangzhou and taken to our frontliners.

“We are all together in this fight. A bit of struggle during this time will not be too much to pay. My deepest gratitude and thanks to everyone who helped in this effort,” he said.

Meanwhile, Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sin is also continuing to distribute food items to lessen the burden of poor families affected by the MCO.

“The Repok Service Centre teams have distributed food assistance to areas in Bayong, Ulu Sarikei and Jalan Kim San,” he said.

He also urged the people in Sarikei to obey the MCO to avoid the virus from spreading.
