KUCHING: The Kakus Constituency Service Centre distributed food items to 44 residents from ten longhouses at Pulau Rian, Sangan, Tatau, following active case detection (ACD) operations in the area.

The food supply was handed over by Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai as well as Kakus Constituency Service Centre representatives to the villagers.

Sikie, who is also an Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs), said the aid is to alleviate the burden of the villagers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“During this time, residents are unable to purchase food in Pekan and are also unable to visit the farm.

“Pulau Rian also received assistance under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) package on June 13 as well as food items from the Sarawak Social Welfare Department on June 30,” he said.

He also hoped the resident will adhere to the standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.
