SERIAN: A foreign inmate, who was found unconscious in the Semuja Immigration Detention Centre (Depot), was today confirmed dead in the wee hours.
Further investigation into the victim’s cause of death is still ongoing, said Serian OCPD DSP Aswandy Anis in a statement.
He pointed out that they received information pertaining to the incident at 3.55am early this morning.
“Once received, a police team was deployed to the scene immediately to conduct an investigation.
“Preliminary investigations found the victim had died at the scene,” he said.
Aswandy stated that the victim’s body was taken to Serian Hospital for post-mortem.
The case, which was classified as sudden death, is still under investigation.
