MUKAH: A foreign plantation worker was arrested on Wednesday (Feb 28) for allegedly stealing three motorcycles from different areas this month.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the 38-year-old suspect was apprehended by a police team around 4 pm.

The suspect was stopped for inspection after being spotted riding a motorcycle without a license plate in front of the entrance to a plantation.

“Checks revealed that the motorcycle he was riding, had been reported missing in Sibu on Feb 16.

“Following that, the police arrested him and they found two more motorcycles that were reported missing in Kampung Sungai Alo on Feb 26 and at a longhouse in Selangau on Feb 27.

“The two motorcycles were parked in front of the plantation workers’ quarters,” he said in a statement.

Rizal added that the suspect is being remanded until Mar 4 to facilitate investigations.
