MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a foreigner on suspicion of drug abuse yesterday.
Mukah OCPD DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the ‘Ops Tapis’ raid took place around 10.55am at a hotel in Jalan Setiaraja, here.
The 47-year-old suspect, a mechanic, was found in a room. Police came across a plastic packet containing syabu, under the mattress and arrested the suspect.
“The drugs weighing 0.17g with a market value of RM50, was seized.
“Investigations showed that the suspect has been involved in substance abuse since May this year,” Muhamad Rizal said.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine of up to RM100,000, upon conviction.
