Foreigner robbed by four police impersonators

MIRI: An Indonesian man claimed that he was robbed by four men impersonating as policemen on Monday night.

In the 11pm incident, the victim in his late 20’s was allegedly beaten by the suspects and fell unconscious. The incident is said to have occurred near a shop in Tudan Phase 2 here.

Prior to the incident, the victim was on his way to the shop to buy cigarette. He was stopped by the suspects who claimed to be policemen conducting routine checks around the area and demanded to look at his working permit.

One of the suspects pointed an object, believed to be a gun, before striking the victim’s head with it. The victim reportedly fell unconscious and only woke up the next day around 7am.

He lost two handphones in the incident.

A police report was lodged and police are investigating.
