KAPIT: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has denied allegations that there were foreigners who received the Covid-19 vaccine at the Kapit vaccination centre.
Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today reported Masing as saying that the statement by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which went viral on the social media recently was slanderous and a wild accusation.
“Based on the records of the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Kapit, so far there are no foreigners who received the Covid-19 vaccine jabs,” he said after visiting the centre at the SK Nanga Oyan’s Hall on Monday. .
The Baleh assemblyman added that the list of vaccine recipients was based on a list certified by the village chief (tuai rumah) which was already registered with the District Office.
In the meantime, Masing said he was satisfied with the vaccination programme at the centre.
“I hope that the state government’s target to vaccinate 80 percent of the population) will be achieved soon as there is encouraging response from the locals towards the vaccination programme,” he added.
On the same day, he also handed over face masks to those present at the centre.
