KUCHING: Puncak Borneo Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) acting chairman Datuk Detta Samen want party members and Puncak Borneo constituents to remember that the late Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit had done much for them.

“Since he became Puncak Borneo MP, he was able to get the Bidayuh together to have the sense of oneness. To me that was his greatest achievement,” said Detta, when met at Dawos’ residence at Taman Stutong Indah, Tabuan Jaya here yesterday.

Detta, who was Dawos’ former special officer, said when Dawos was made deputy minister, he was able to gain respect even among the federal ministers at that time.

He said despite the setback of the last election, he left behind a legacy for the Bidayuh and people of Puncak Borneo.

“It is sad he has left us but his contributions shouldn’t be forgotten, and Puncak Borneo PBB should carry on what he had done,” added Detta.
