Former Katibas assemblyman Ambrose Blikau Enturan passes away at 70

KUCHING: Former Katibas assemblyman Datuk Seri Ambrose Blikau Enturan passed away today (Sept 9) at the age of 70.

He succumbed to a lung infection at 8.05am at the Normah Medical Specialist Centre in Kuching, according to information shared by his family members.

A prayer session is scheduled for 8pm tonight, and the wake service will be held on September 10 at 8pm.

The wake service will take place at Lot 608, Jalan Kedandi, Lorong 8, Tabuan Dusun, 93350, Kuching.

The funeral service will be held at St Joseph Cathedral Church Kuching on September 11, at 10am.

Blikau is survived by his wife, Datin Sri Marie Therese Mathias, two sons, one daughter, and eight grandsons.

Blikau retired from active politics in 2021 after an illustrious career as the Katibas assemblyman, spanning nearly four decades.

He first clinched the seat in 1979 when the constituency was carved out of Song.

Despite a brief setback in 1987 after losing his seat to Felix Bantin Jibom from Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS), he returned triumphant in 1991 and continued to hold the seat.

The infrastructure projects, among others, he brought to Song District included Jalan Song-Ngungun, Jalan Song-Kapit, Jalan Banjor-Mukut, and Jalan Mukut-Engkuah; while at Song Bazaar the developments include the Song Waterfront Esplanade, futsal court, Song community hall, and wet market.

He also advocated for the establishment of the Song fire station, rural health clinic, SMK Song 2, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), and the implementation of solar power under the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) for longhouses.

Blikau was previously appointed as the executive director of Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd from 1987 to 2000 and in 2014.

He also held key ministerial roles as Assistant Minister of Resource Planning, Assistant Minister of Finance, and Assistant Minister of Rural Development and Public Utilities during his distinguished political career.
