KUCHING: Former Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) and former Tupong State Assemblyman, Datuk Haji Ir. Daud Abdul Rahman passed away yesterday at Timberland Medical Centre here at 4.10pm. He was 66 years old.

His passing was confirmed by his daughter, Siti Masitah Haji Daud, 34, who told the press that her father was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday after experiencing stomachache since the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Medical results, she said, confirmed that Daud’s intestines were infected.

“At 2.30pm yesterday, my father was given life support machine as his breathing became weaker.

“During this time, he experienced cardiac arrest which ultimately led to a great loss for the family,” said Masitah.

Prior to this, Daud experienced strokes in 2011 and 2015, which he survived.

His body arrived at his residence at 5.40pm.

Daud leaves behind his widow, Datin Hajah Noraini Hussin, three children, Mohd Yahya Haji Daud, 37, Masitah and Siti Mastura, 31, and two grandchildren.
