KUCHING: Former State Secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani has expressed sadness over the passing of Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

He said Taib, the former Head of State, has exhibited an unwavering commitment to the advancement and betterment of Sarawak.

“I am saddened by the passing of a leader who has sacrificed his whole life to develop and serve Sarawak.

“He has developed the state from the backwaters, transforming it into a modern Sarawak,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.

Morshidi hoped that Taib’s legacy and contribution will always be remembered by the people.

“May Allah bless his soul. Amin,” he said.

Taib, 87, passed away at approximately 4.40 am at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 21.
