Fostering interest in science among students

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Unimas Pre-University (PPPU) is dedicated to fostering interest among schoolchildren to learn various aspects of science through its Scienceploration Camp 2020 programme.

PPPU director assoc prof Dr Muna Sabri said since its inception in 2016, the programme has been updated and further enhanced offering more creative and interesting activities for its participants.

“The programme would spark interest among the participants to learn more about science through planned activities and experiments.

“All activities will be conducted within the area of ​​Unimas, with the involvement of experienced lecturers from various fields assisted by graduate students trained as facilitators.”

Muna said this at the Scienceploration Camp 2020 held at Pusat Islam Tun Abang Salahuddin (Pitas) Unimas here, yesterday.

She added that the programme would help to promote the Science Foundation Programme and International Foundation in Science programme offered by Unimas to SPM graduates.

“The programme would also motivate participants to learn and inculcate a love for science.

“Hands-on activities are also provided throughout the programme which is very helpful as it provides participants with the experience of science, teaching them to use all their senses,” she said.

Muna was confident that participants would have the opportunity to get to know Unimas, being one of the great institutions producing many outstanding and high-quality graduates, more closely.

A total of 120 students from 16 schools around Kota Samarahan and Kuching took part in the two-day programme which began yesterday.
