KUCHING: The Malaysia Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) donated a total of RM10,800 in aid to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) students affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Unimas deputy vice chancellor (Students Affairs and Alumni), Prof Dr Kamarudin Kana who received the assistance on behalf of the university expressed gratitude to YaPIEM for their contribution.

“We hope that the cooperation between Unimas and YaPIEM can continue in the future. The assistance given will be used as best as possible to help the varsity students.

“This will be utilised for buying necessities for students who are still on campus to undergo online learning, which is a new norm for the university at present,” he said when met during a ceremony to receive the assistance from YaPEIM at the campus on this morning.

On hand to present the assistance on behalf of YaPIEM was its Sarawak administrative centre manager Fadlie Zamuri.

Also present during the ceremony were Centre for Student Services senior assistant registrar Zahiruddin Md Jais and Unimas Student Representative Council (Unimas) president Mohd Taufik Badruddin.

Joining them were officers from YaPIEM and Unimas.
