Four arrested in cockfight raid

MIRI: A 66 year-old man was among four persons arrested during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Dadu’ at Batu 7 Lambir, Jalan Miri-Bintulu on Wednesday evening.

In the 4.30pm raid at a cockfighting den, police also seized two dead roosters and a weighing machine.

All suspects and the seized items were brought to Miri Central police station (CPS) for questioning, disclosed Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

He said the cockfighting den was located in an oil palm estate in the area. The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance 1962, which carries a maximum fine of RM1,000 and imprisonment of up to three months upon conviction.
