Four caught in raid for gambling

BAU: Police rounded up a group of men for gambling in a house at Jalan Krokong, Kampung PLM Buta, here on Monday (May 9).

The ‘Op Dadu’ raid by Bau Criminal Investigation Division (CID) was carried out at 3.30pm.

Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said four men, aged between 30 and 45, were caught playing cards involving money.

Also seized in the raid were a set of 52 cards, a phone, a memory chip and some cash.

“One of them is believed to have engaged in online gambling activity. The man will be investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000 or a jail term up to three years, upon conviction,” he said.

The suspects and seized items, were taken to the police station for further action.

Background checks found that all four men did not have any past records.

The case is being investigated under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953, which carries a fine of up to RM2,000, upon conviction.
