Four families of fire victims receive cash donations

SIBU: Dudong State Assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King presented contribution to four families of fire victims of government quarters block at Jalan Bukit Lima, Sibu which was partially destroyed in a fire.

Sarawak Government Services Welfare and Recreational Council (MAKSAK) Sibu Division also presented donation to the four families of the fire victims involved.

Both contributions in the form of cash were handed over by Tiong and Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee during their visit to the fire site here yesterday.

Tiong, who is also Chairman of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) told reporters that the donation was from DUN Dudong Disaster Relief fund which aimed to help fire victims involved.

Meanwhile, Hii also said that two of the victims involved are employees of Sibu Public Works Department (JKR) and another two are employees of Land and Survey Department Sibu, who stayed with their family at the government quarters.

“Now th government has identified four new quarters as their residences,” he said.

He added that the cause of the fire and losses were still being investigated.
