BAU: Bau District Police arrested four foreigners with no valid travel documents in the first raid conducted in conjunction with an operation codenamed “Ops Ambang Merdeka 2020” here on Sunday (August 30).

Bau District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the foreigners were later handed over to the Immigration Department for further investigation and action.

In the second raid conducted at a shop, the police found contraband liquors with unpaid duties.

“All the items were seized and handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation.

“Bau District Police also arrested a local man who was allegedly involved in drug abuse.

“The results of the preliminary screening test found the suspect was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. He was detained under Section 15 (1) (a) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” added Poge.

He revealed several traffic summonses were also issued to errant road users in Bau during the operations.

“Other enforcement agencies involved in the operations included the Immigration Department of Malaysia, Malaysian Customs Department and Malaysian Armed Forces,” he said in a statement on Monday (August 31).
