SIBU: A family of four were made homeless after a fire engulfed their residence in a Ta Ann Plywood employee flat on Wednesday (Aug 23).
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties among the tenants during the incident which occurred at around 2pm.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched firefighters from the Sungai Merah station to the scene located along Jalan Sungai Bidut.
The flames originated on the third floor of the building and were initially extinguished by the Ta Ann Plywood fire safety organisation before the Bomba team arrived.
Upon their arrival, the firefighters took control of the situation and continued to extinguish any remaining flames. The fire resulted in approximately 80 per cent damage to the residential unit.
