KUCHING: Padawan police arrested four men suspected of trafficking in drugs during a raid on a house at Lorong Stapok Utama 14, Batu Kawa Road here at 2.30am last Monday.

Three of the suspects are from Stapok and one is from Miri. They admitted to dealing in drugs for the past four years.

During the raid, the police initially saw two suspects in the house. One of them held a small red and black bag in his right hand. Inside it was a transparent plastic packet containing three tubes of syabu and three Eramin 5 (0.88 grams).

On the second suspect, police found a red “angpow” packet that also contained a plastic bag of syabu. It weighed about 0.3 grams.

The raiders then went to the kitchen where another man was in possession of a yellow box containing three transparent plastic packets, each containing a crystalline substance suspected of being syabu. It weighed 1.84 grams.

In a bedroom, the fourth suspect was checked but nothing was found on him. However, upon checking the room, police found a transparent plastic packet containing five transparent plastic packets each containing crystalline substances suspected of being syabu. Weighing 5.15 gram, the substance was inside the front pocket of a pair of blue jeans.

The four suspects aged between 27 and 37 tested positive for drugs would be charged under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act.

Section 39A of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 provides for a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

The suspects are now detained for further questioning.
