KUCHING: The state Health Department has declared the emergence of four new Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak — one each in Bintulu, Miri, Sri Aman and Bau.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that the new clusters are of three workplace clusters and one community cluster.
The Jalan Johari Sunam Cluster is a workplace cluster involving workers at a supermarket located at Jalan Johari Sunam, Taman Bandar Sya Jaya, Off Jalan Sebiyu in Bintulu.
A total of 35 individuals were screened in which five including the index case are positive, while 30 are still waiting for laboratory results. Four new cases were reported on Tuesday (August 17).
Jalan Akses Cluster, also a workplace cluster, involved workers at a supermarket located at Jalan Akses Bandar Sri Aman, Sri Aman.
Seventy-four individuals were screened and 13 including the index case were positive, while 17 were negative. Forty-four are still waiting for test results and three new cases were reported today.
Another workplace cluster, Jalan Semenggok Bau cluster, involved workers at a supermarket located at Jalan Semenggok, Pekan Bau in Bau.
Tests were conducted on 63 individuals and 16 including the case index were positive, while 36 were negative. Eleven are still waiting for test results.
The Jalan Lembah Hijau Cluster is a community cluster involving families residing in Kampung Lopeng Tengah and Kampung Wireless, Jalan Riam in Miri.
Sixty-nine individuals were screened and 31, including the index case, were positive while six were negative. Thirty-two are still waiting for lab results and two new cases were reported today.
At the same time, the committee said the Tema Saan Cluster in Tebedu and Sungai Sengkabang in Subid have ended after no new cases were reported involving the clusters in the past 28 days.
The state currently has 109 Covid-19 clusters.
