KUCHING: Firefighters were on Tuesday (Nov 16) kept busy freeing trapped motorists from their vehicles following two separate crashes here.

All four sustained injuries in the mishaps but were brought to safety by the firefighters.

In the first incident two men were hurt when the lorry they were in skidded and crashed into a tree along Jalan Demak.

Firemen from Petra Jaya station rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 8.15am and found them trapped inside the ice-laden lorry.

Both men who sustained injuries to their legs and hands were later rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) by the emergency medical rescue service (EMRS) unit for treatment.

Later at around 10.55am, the team received another emergency call that two more individuals were trapped in their car after it crashed into a tree in Lorong 6, Taman Malihah.

The team deployed to the scene managed to bring them out of the vehicle and brought them to hospital.

One suffered injuries to the face while the other suffered light injuries.
