KUCHING: Sarawak will follow the latest federal ruling to allow four persons to travel in a vehicle.

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas confirmed this in a statement yesterday.

“The state stance is that since this has been gazetted as the law, Sarawak will comply accordingly.

“In other words, we now allow four persons to travel in a vehicle,” said Uggah, who is also a deputy chief minister.

The federal government announced its decision to allow four people to travel in one vehicle when going out to shop for necessities or to seek medical services during the conditional movement control order (CMCO), provided they were all from the same household last Sunday.

Previously, the limit was two people, as announced at the end of April. Before that, during the earlier of the movement control order (MCO), only one person was allowed in a vehicle.
