MIRI: Four out of nine flood mitigation projects for Senadin constituency have been completed.
Those projects are river-clearing works on Sungai Miri Kecil, works to clear and improve the silting of the existing earth drain at Jalan Indah 3 in Desa Pujut and clearing works on existing drain at Tudan Phase 3 and Phase 5.
Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin revealed this to the media on Monday (May 17) after visiting the site projects in the area.
“The remaining five of these projects are on the way,” said the Senadin assemblyman.
He said once completed, these projects would resolve flash flood problems within the area.
Overall, the nine projects that have completed and are being implemented cost about RM1.4 million, he added.
On another note, Lee also expressed his concern with the floating aquatic plants along the Sungai Miri Kecil and drains cum ditches within his constituency.
Hence, he requested the Miri Divisional Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to find a solution and a way to remove the floating aquatic plants.
