MIRI: A member of the public, two beauty salons and one eatery outlet have been compounded for defying the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19 last Saturday during an operations held at Bandar Baru Permyjaya, Senadin and Tudan areas by Miri City Council enforcement team.
Miri City mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said during the two-hour operations, the enforcement team issued four compound notices of RM1,500 each to the violators.
The operations was carried out in accordance with Section 15 of Sarawak Protection of Public Health Ordinance, 1999, Yii said in a statement on Sunday (March 14).
During the first operations on Saturday (Mar 13), a total 26 enforcement personnel and four Health Officers were involved.
It was carried out successfully without hustle and any untoward incidents.
Enforcement operations will continue to be carried out and cover other areas of Miri City.
Yii added that stricter enforcement action is now deemed necessary in the light of Covid-19 pandemic and according to the daily report from the authority, it spread to a wider area in our community including Miri City.
Stricter enforcement will catch the attention and cooperation of the general public that the present situation warrants strict compliance of SOP.
Miri City Mayor reminded the public to stay at home.
Should there is a need to come out, practise the 3Cs i.e., avoid spaces that are closed, crowded or involve close contact.
In public place, wear face mask, maintain social distancing of 1 metre and wash your hands with soap and water often.
For the business operators, they should maintain “check-in” using MySejahtera or maintain proper records of customers’ particulars and provide body-temperature screening before allowing them to enter their premises.
Apart from this, they should strictly comply with the SOPs and instructions as had laid down by the authorities in allowing them to carry out their businesses.
