Four straight days of no new cases

KUCHING: For the fourth consecutive day, Sarawak reported no new positive Covid-19 cases since the last one was detected in Bintulu on Aug 30.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the total number of cases in the state remains at 699.

There were no new recovery and discharged cases from hospitals statewide, bringing the total of recovery cases to remain at 663 or 94.85 percent.

“A total of 17 people are still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards.

“Eleven cases are being treated at Bintulu Hospital, five at Sarawak General Hospital and one at Miri Hospital.

“The death toll remains at 19 or 2.72 percent,” Uggah said at the Covid-19 daily update press conference today.

Uggah added that there is only one remaining active cluster in the state — the Alam Cluster in Bintulu, with eight cases.

He said that there were two new persons-under-investigation (PUI) cases reported while none awaiting laboratory test results.

A total of 113 new persons-under-surveillance (PUS) have checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 12 hotels in the state to 675 while 23,326 had completed their quarantine period.
