MARUDI: Several houses in four villages here were inundated by floodwaters on Saturday, following heavy rains since last week.

Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) said these affected villages were Kampung Narum; Kampung Ridan; Kampung Dagang; and Kampung Padang Kerbau.

However, no evacuation was carried out as of yesterday.

“The situation is still under control,” said APM in a statement.

Villagers in these four affected villages have been reminded to be extra vigilant and to evacuate immediately if the situation becomes worse.

On Saturday, a team of civil defenders were mobilised to these affected villages for flood monitoring. Floodwaters level recorded at these four villages reached up to four to five inches high.

Meanwhile, Marudi ferry service is still operating as usual despite the flood situation.
