KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case for the fourth consecutive day today, with the total number of positive cases in the state remaining at 552.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), seven Covid-19 patients had recovered and discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today.

“Thus far, the total number of Covid-19 cases which have recovered and discharged is 508, or 92.03 per cent,” it said in a statement.

It added that 80 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported today and 22 cases were still awaiting laboratory results.

On the 339 samples which were taken at Belawai, Tanjung Manis on Friday, 242 tested negative while 97 were pending laboratory results.

Based on statistics from Sarawak Health Department, there were 26 cases undergoing treatment at hospitals to date, with one in intensive care unit (ICU). None required breathing assistance.

On persons under surveillance (PUS), SDMC said that 214 PUS had checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS in 38 hotels statewide to 955 while 12,349 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,356 applications for inter-district travel were received by all district police headquarters statewide, bringing the total to 91,713 applications.

“Of these, 83,583 have been approved and 8,130 rejected,” SDMC said.

It also stated that the surveillance team comprising 766 personnel had monitored 1,768 locations today comprising supermarkets (266), restaurants (298), factories (30), banks (173), government offices (96), hawkers (9), public markets (98), places of worship (100), recreational places (44), construction sites (17), and others (677).

Additionally, 29 arrests were made today for violating the CMCO while six individuals were compounded for attempting to make inter-district travel without approved permit, bringing the total to 153 compounded since May 19.
