KUCHING: Free Malay language tuition classes will be provided for poor students, aiming to prepare them for the subject in the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) next year.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, handed over an RM8000 grant to Che Hia Khor Moral Uplifting Society (CHMUS) Kuching and Samarahan Division for this purpose.

According to Yap, the tuition classes will benefit 20 Form 5 students from B40 families. The goal is to enhance their proficiency in the Malay language and help them excel in the SPM exam.

He thanked the society for taking the initiative to organise these classes, emphasising their importance for obtaining the SPM certificate and meeting the basic requirement for government job applications in the country.
