KUCHING: Frontline workers of Sarawak General Hospital, Health Department Operations Room, and Pusat Jantung Sarawak yesterday received a special visit from State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

According to a press release today, Uggah made the visit to personally extend his Gawai Dayak greetings as well as to present food packages to all frontline workers who were on duty during the first day of Gawai Dayak.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, was accompanied by SDMC high committee member and Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Sarawak Heath director Dr Chin Zin Hing.

Sim, in a Facebook posting yesterday, expressed gratitude towards the dedication and sacrifices shown by frontline medical workers.

“While we celebrate Ari Gawai staying at home, many of my colleagues and friends stayed at work as frontliners in hospitals throughout Sarawak.

“Let’s also pray for our fellow Sarawakians who are ‘celebrating’ Ari Gawai in hospitals, quarantine centres, and hotels. Together we shall overcome the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
