BAU: Datuk Henry Harry Jinep described his first three years as Tasik Biru assemblyman as a fruitful and amazing journey.

He said throughout the period, he had successfully brought in more than RM300 million worth of people-centric development projects and programmes not only for the benefit of people in the Tasik Biru constituency but also Bau district as a whole.

“I have been working aggressively to bring in new development to my constituency during the period. The past three years has been a tough albeit a remarkable and amazing journey for me,” he said when asked to describe his first three years as Tasik Biru assemblyman.

Henry, a successful businessman, was picked to contest the Tasik Biru seat in the 2016 state election and May 7 this year marked his third anniversary as Tasik Biru assemblyman.

In an interview with the New Sarawak Tribune, he attributed his success to the good working relationships, support and commitment of all concerned.

Later when speaking at an event to celebrate his third anniversary as Tasik Biru assemblyman, Henry urged all parties to continue to work together for more progress.

“I do not want to talk about my success as the people of Bau already know the success that they have experienced.

“But what I can say is that the next two years will be the most challenging years and will most certainly be different,” he said.

PBB Tasik Biru chief John Ngiyor acknowledged that the people of Tasik Biru are thankful for having Henry as their assemblyman who is certainly a man of the people.

“We know that he has spent his time to serve the people of Tasik Biru and despite his loss in the business world, we have gained a wonderful representative for our district,” John said.

PRS Tasik Biru chief Datuk Wilfred Rata Nissom said that Henry has done a lot for Bau in a short period of time and the future will be different.

“This time we fight for autonomy, we fight for the people and if we do not control the state properly, many of our laws which are bad will be used against us,” he said.

Henry also thanked the Bau district council councillors, community leaders and all party members for helping and guiding him with the task as Tasik Biru assemblyman and in developing the district to attract tourists and helping to generate income for the people.

“We are gathered here not just to celebrate my third anniversary as Tasik Biru assemblyman but also to celebrate our joint efforts in making this district much better economically.

“I know that I am unable to work alone as only with the community’s guidance, teachings and advice, only then am I able to reach this level of respect from all of you and to have this third anniversary celebration,” he pointed out.

Also present were Bau district officer Anielia Siam, political secretary to the Chief Minister Charles Chad Nissom, religious leaders and local community leaders.
