MIRI: Fuel and food supply in areas affected by floods in Miri Division, especially Marudi, are adequate, assured Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry Miri chief Joe Azmi Jamil.

He also disclosed that there was no price hike on food items in the said areas.

“We have seven mini stock suppliers (five in Miri and two in Marudi) on standby in case the flood situation worsens,” said Joe during a press conference after witnessing a presentation of food donations to Lions Club of Miri Host.

“Our enforcement officers are on the ground for routine checks, monitoring the situation to ensure that no one is taking advantage of the flood situation,” he said.

On another note, he had instructed the only fuel station in Marudi to move its tanks to higher ground.

Following heavy rain the past few days, some areas in Marudi have been inundated, including the fuel station. “I was told that some of the fuel tanks were affected, and for safety reasons, we have instructed that they move the fuel tanks to higher ground,” Joe said.
