Full house attendance of PDP’s CNY open house

KUCHING: It was a full house at the Chinese New Year (CNY) open house hosted by Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing with the attendance of at least 15,000 people.

Held at the Bintulu Civic Centre yesterday, it saw people coming from various backgrounds who started to throng the open house as early as 8am.

The event also saw the presence of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang who joined the colourful event.

The Premier and his wife arrived at the venue at about 11.30 am and were then escorted to the main stage for the tossing of the ‘yee sang’ ceremony.

Abang Johari and other dignitaries and guests also joined in to cut the Chinese New Year cake.

Guests were also entertained by cultural dances and song performances by local dancers and singers from Bintulu.

This CNY open house is an annual event hosted by PDP. In the last two years, it was put on hold in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among those present were, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin; Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi; Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk John Sikie Tayai; State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Public Health, Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil; Infrastructure and Port Development Deputy Minister Datuk Majang Renggi; and Deputy Transport Minister (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
