KUCHING: Educators and their assistants at kindergartens and nurseries are expected to be fully vaccinated statewide, said Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister added as of July 1, a total of 6,021 or 84 percent of educators and their assistants from the private sector have been vaccinated.

She added that for kindergartens, a total of 3,185 or 82 percent of educators and 2,059 or 89 percent of their assistants have been vaccinated.

In addition, she added that 640 (80 percent) nannies in nurseries and 137 (89 percent) of their assistants have also been vaccinated.

“We are very concerned over these targeted groups. Hence, with the help of the vaccination centre (PPVs) statewide, we hope that we can reach full vaccination within these groups,” she said in a press conference after her inspecting the vaccination process for the deaf at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) PPV today (July 2).
