BAU: Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh wants Sarawakians to remember July 22 as a day when we could finally stand on our own feet.

“It is the day that Sarawak was ready to helm its own and be governed by Sarawakians themselves,” he said when asked to comment on the Sarawak Day

He urged the people to always nurture the values of unity among the diverse communities.

“It is because of the unity and harmony that we have that makes Sarawak unique and respected in the eyes of the world.

“Let us fight together under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in driving Sarawak to become more advanced and prosperous,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Teachers’ Union president Macky Joseph urged Sarawakians must know the state’s history and the significance of July 22 1963 and Sept 16, 1963.

“We need to ensure that the historical facts are made known for the sake of our children and their children after that,” Macky said.
