KUCHING:  Forty-five trainee teachers from the Institute of Teacher Education Batu Lintang Campus set up an English Language Camp at SK Agama Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan here recently while another 42 teachers set up two big storytelling booths.

The programme was organised by the English Language panel of the school and conducted by   trainee teachers from various groups such as PISMP BI (SK) 1 and 2 June 2018 intake, PISMP BI (SK) June 2019 intake and PPISMP BI (SK) 1 June 2019 intake.

For the English Language Camp, four games stations such as Word Jumble, Spinning Wheels, Decoding and Giant Snakes and Ladders were organised. In every games station, five language games provide the pupils with a platform to practise their language skills.

The games stations catered up to 220 pupils spontaneously within a period of two hours per session.

The storytelling sessions by the two groups of PISMP BI (SK) June 2018 delivered six interactive western classics stories such as Rumpelstiltskin, Goldilocks and The Three Bears and The Three Wishes.

Within a period of two hours, six stories were delivered to 211 pupils via interactive methods inclusive of multimedia, visuals, readers’ theatre and action songs. The pupils were fully involved in the storytelling as they had parts and roles to play in every story.

Such programmes exposed the trainee teachers to the teaching environment in real life situation, enriched their pedagogical experience and sharpened their pedagogical skills.
