KUCHING: The Sarawak Anti-Pandemic Support Fund, launched by the Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division Chinese Association, has attracted almost 10,000 donors and raised RM380,000.

Chairman of the campaign, Kuek Eng Mong via Zoom meeting with the committee, expressed his confidence that they could exceed the target of 10,000 donors soon.

He hoped those who donated would submit their names, along with the amount of their donations, to the federation or the campaign’s committee by the end of this month.

“A complete list of donors, along with the amount of donations, will be compiled and sent as soon as possible to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“Meanwhile, those who wish to continue to donate can do so by scanning the federation’s Sarawak Pay QR code.

“Until last week, the number of donors was 9,227,” he said.

He added that the campaign received an overwhelming response from the public, and that within six weeks, the fundraising campaign’s aim had been altered three times, first to 5,000 donors, then to 8,000, and recently to 10,000.

Meanwhile, president of the Federation Datuk Richard Wee, extended his heartfelt gratitude to all committee members, led by Kuek Eng Mong, for their commitment and efforts in carrying out this fundraising campaign.

“It was heart-warming to see the committee achieve its goal of 10,000 donors in just one month, rather than the predicted two months.

“This clearly demonstrated the excellent effectiveness of the committee members in carrying out their tasks as well as the spirit of cooperation among the member associations under the umbrella of the federation,” he said in a statement.
