KUCHING: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) will continue to get allocations for the development of infrastructure needed for the paddy industry in Sarawak.

Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee said Sarawak is among the important states contributing to ensure the improvement of food security.

“During my three-day visit to Sarawak, one of it was to the Batang Lupar, Sri Aman paddy field and I observed that a lot of things need to be done to improve the paddy industry.

“Therefore, our ministry will continue to get appropriate allocation for the infrastructure needed in in this area,” he said during a press conference after a work visit at Medan Niaga Satok here, on Saturday.

He mentioned this effort will be included in the continuous collaboration between the federal government, departments and agencies with the state government.

“This is important because we want to achieve success together for food security in Malaysia. And we in the federal government, we want this effort for food security to be accepted by every state government in the country,” he stressed.

He said that his visit to Sarawak was also to observe the implementation status of some projects in the state.

“I also look into the problems, other needs and other potentials that need to be done in ensuring Sarawak will continue to contribute towards federal efforts in achieving the nation’s food security,” he said.
