SIMANGGANG: The St Lawrence Church Cemetery Committee in Sabu here has received an allocation of RM10,000 under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) initiative.

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the funding, adding that both the Anglican Women Fellowship (AWF) and the Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF) have each been allocated RM5,000.

Additionally, the Parochial Church Committee (PCC) has been granted RM20,000 for the 2024 MRP allocation.

“This allocation from the state government requires diligent reporting and inclusion in meeting minutes due to the audit inspection of government-provided financial resources,” he said this after attending a dialogue programme organised by the church recently.

Regarding the dialogue, Harden said its objective was to discuss the PCC’s aspirations and plans including forming a special committee for constructing a new church building to replace the current one and preserving the church’s 160-year history.

He also stressed the need for collaboration among the PCC, AWF, AYF, and chapel management committees, in partnership with GPS representatives, to ensure funding is effectively utilised.
