KUCHING: The gangways at the Sarikei Express Terminal (Terminal Dua) here will be repaired soon for the safety of the public, said Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

He revealed this after visiting the terminal on Monday.

“I discussed the damage with the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Sarawak Rivers Board and they will repair them in the next two weeks,” he said.

“Because our country is currently dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and the National Recovery Plan (NRP), the project to replace the two gangways will be carried out next year. That is why we will repair them first,” he added.

“The allocation for this project has been approved and currently, maintenance work is our main priority to ensure the safety of users.”

Huang also urged the people to support the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He also thanked the PWD and the Sarawak Rivers Board for their cooperation over the years as well as the state government for developing Sarikei.
