SIBU: A total of 60 red cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from PetrosNiaga were sold out in less than half an hour during the MyGaz yellow LPG cylinder exchange programme here today.

According to Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng, people started queuing as early as 7 am for the programme organised by the Bukit Assek Service Centre in collaboration with PetrosNiaga Billion Commitment Sdn Bhd.

“The response to the programme is very good, with a majority of attendees being residents from the Brooke Drive area, most of whom are senior citizens.

“Despite the programme starting at 9 am, people have already filled the premises of the Xin Fu Yuan Methodist Church, where the programme is held.

“These senior citizens face transportation issues, but my team has sufficient manpower to assist them,” he said when met by reporters at the programme.

Chieng said that the cylinder exchange did not involve any charges, and the public was only required to pay RM26.60, which is the original price of the red PetrosNiaga cylinder for self-collection.

He said that they provided only 60 cylinders for purchase during this programme as it was planned at the last minute.

Therefore, he believes that more traders will be involved in distributing PetrosNiaga gas in the future.

“Now, this issue is no longer a problem. More traders will be involved in distributing these cylinders later on.

“However, my service centre will continue to organise similar programmes in the Bukit Assek area to facilitate the public and save them from the hassle of travelling far to get these PetrosNiaga cylinders,” he added.
