KUCHING: Gabungan Anak Sarawak (Gasak) shares the same core policies with Aspirasi — which is to fight for the Sarawak referendum and its people, said Lina Soo, chairman of Gasak.

“With representation in the Sarawak state assembly, this new coalition party shall pursue the Sarawak referendum to direct the Sarawak government to make the referendum constitutional,” Soo, who is also president of Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi), explained.

“Sarawakians are now politically matured and capable of making an informed decision to determine the sovereignty and destiny of our homeland,” she added.

Earlier, president of Gasak and also Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Bersatu (PBDSB), Bobby William, revealed that Gasak would compete in all 82 seats, including himself for Senadin against incumbent Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

Alex Leong Tung Shaow, treasurer of Gasak and a member of Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S), disclosed that the 300,000-signed petition on reviewing of the Sarawak referendum would be represented in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) when they have a seat.

“We have shown this petition to the secretary of our late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem back when he was on duty.

“Many people questioned the existence of this signed petition. We are not able to disclose it to the public as we do not have anyone to bring and show the petition during DUN seating,” he told reporters during a press conference with Aspirasi here today.

Soo also chimed in, saying the party wanted a Sarawakian to present the Sarawak referendum and the signed petition, not a non-Sarawakian.

Asked on other members contesting, Soo clarified that the party is still waiting for approval from the Registrar of Societies regarding their coalition before proceeding with future matters.
