KUCHING: Gabungan Anak Sarawak (Gasak) coalition has added new features to its ‘bungai terung’ logo — rice straws and green sprout.
Gasak president Bobby William said that the additional features were decided after considering the public’s feedback on the logo.
“One of the new features is the rice straws. We cannot live without rice and it is the same with Gasak whereby our presence is to fight for Sarawak.
“Meanwhile, the other feature — green sprout —symbolises a new beginning, whereby we believe that Gasak is one of the best platforms for a new beginning to all political parties and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work together and fight for Sarawak,” he said when unveiling the new logo in a press conference held at a hotel here on Saturday.
The new features were added into the existing logo which pictured a ‘bungai terung’ (eggplant flower).
The Bungai terung has five petals which symbolises the five entities of the coalition ― Pergerakan Bansa Dayak Sarawak Bersatu (PBDSB), Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi), Sarawak Workers Party (SWP), Sarawak Independence Alliance (SIA) and Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S).
The spiral at the centre of the bungai terung is called ‘Tali Nyawa’ (the rope of life) which symbolises the coalition as the new beginning for ‘anak Sarawak’ (Sarawakians).
Bobby also mentioned that Gasak has been officially registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) which means that the coalition is now able to contest in the coming state election.
The pro-term committee of Gasak comprises Bobby as the president, Engga Unchat (deputy president), Lina Soo (chairperson), Buln Ribos (secretary) and Alex Leong Shaow Tung (treasurer).
