KUCHING: Style Series showcased a collection by highly talented fashion designers in Style Series GaYa (Gawai Raya) Fashion Show at the Hills yesterday.

The event was organised in an effort to raise funds for a non-profit organisation “Meeting Needs” to help the identified 60 families currently in urgent need of assistance.

According to Meeting Needs’ representative Datin Dona Drury Wee, the funds from the charity fashion event will be channelled towards easing the families’ lives with specialised mobility aids, surgeries, basic necessities and the upgrading of their basic household amenities.

“With funds from today’s show, Meeting Needs will be conducting two free ‘Wheelchair Clinics’ for the Community-based Rehabilitation Centres (PDKs) to come and have their needs assessed and recommendations made.

“If they can’t come to the PDKs, then Meeting Needs founder Sue Walker and Caroline will make home visits.

“If the families or individuals genuinely cannot afford to buy what is needed, then the funds from the fashion show will be used to purchase wheelchairs, cosy seats, walking frames and so on for them,” she elaborated.
