KUCHING: Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah says the 15th General Election (GE15) will be held very soon.

Speaking at an event involving Sarawak contingent officials for the 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma) yesterday, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president reckoned that polls could be held after the end of Sukma.

“I have this strange feeling that after Sukma and the tabling of Budget 2023 on Oct 7, Parliament will be dissolved.

“All the other state leaders are busy thinking about whether or not they are going to be nominated to contest in the polls, and some might not even think about the welfare of their state’s sports development,” said the Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development.

Abdul Karim added that in this situation where other state leaders were preoccupied with politics at the moment, he was hopeful that Sarawak would be able to achieve its medal target.

Sukma will take place in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 16-24.
