German envoy makes recce visit to national park

KUCHING: German Ambassador to Malaysia His Excellency Dr Peter Blomeyer made a recce visit to Kuching Wetland National Park on Friday (Jan 27).

According to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), the recce visit was part of the preparation to welcome the federal president of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sarawak in February.

The custodian of national parks and wildlife stated that Blomeyer was accompanied by its Kuching regional manager Abang Norizan Abang Median, Head of Section (Marine) James Bali and team.

“During the visit, they tracked along Monkey Island and concurrently were able to witness the proboscis monkey along the Pulau Salak area.

“The delegation managed to make it all the way to the pontoon site which is the restoration area near Sungai Lemidin to end the day’s excursion,” it said.

In a separate post, SFC has refuted a recent job vacancy posting that went viral on various social media platforms as untrue.

“We have not issued any recent vacancy advertisement for vacant positions as listed in the posting,” it said.

SFC clarified that any recruitment or career opportunities at the organisation would be published on its official social media platforms and selected newspapers.
