MARUDI: The Chinese community here has been reminded to stay united and rally behind assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil to ensure Marudi transforms into a more vibrant town in future.

Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations president Datuk David Goh said such support was crucial to ensure continuous development for Marudi.

He described Dr Penguang as committed in transforming Marudi town with his five-year development strategy.

During his visit here recently, he had the opportunity to meet Dr Penguang, and they were briefed on Marudi’s current development master plan such as the ongoing construction of the Marudi waterfront (RM23mln), Marudi-Long Terawan road (RM43 mln), Sungai Arang bridge extension (RM22 mln) and five bailey bridges along Miri-Marudi road (RM14.7 mln).

Other projects include the first phase of a mini-industrial estate at a cost of RM11 mln, slope protection works (RM3.7 mln) and the conservation of Fort Hose (RM2.1 mln).

“With all these projects, there is no reason why the Chinese community should not rally behind Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil,” Goh stressed.
