KUCHING: Budget 2020 may not be able to satisfy everyone, but Sarawakians should give credit to the federal government for its effort to review and increase the amount of special grant for Sabah and Sarawak.

In driving home her point, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak vice chairman Voon Shiak Ni said the budget has made a significant step in taking the lead to review the long overdue Article 112D of the Federal Constitution.

“I must say that Budget 2020 is Sarawakian-friendly budget. Credit should be given to PH members of parliament from Sarawak for their hard work in fighting for Sarawak,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Voon lauded the federal government’s commitment to continue the Pan Borneo Highway development project.

“On top of that, the federal government also managed to save RM1.2 billion to date from the ongoing cost rationalisation of the Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) project.

“The saving will be used to construct more roads in Sarawak including the Trans-Borneo Highway connecting Sabah and Sarawak to Eastern Kalimantan, where the new Indonesian capital will be located,” she said.
