SEBUYAU: The public have been urged to give the government more time to implement development projects, especially related to water, electricity and Internet connectivity.

Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi said more programmes were in the works, especially for Sebuyau folk.

“Take the development of roads for example, folk are now able to come to this place because the road has improved compared to previous years where they had to use boats to come here, so it was hard then because they live in coastal areas.

“I am thankful that this has finally come true,” he said during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri programme at Dewan Pembangunan Sebuyau here on Monday (May 16).

He said the current challenge was ensuring Internet coverage, which is still in the works.

“We want the people to be able to connect with their friends and families from far away, so that is also a big challenge for us.

“We are developing Internet coverage in Sarawak, not just in Sebuyau,” he explained, adding that there was a need to develop digital economy and the Sarawak government was taking this very seriously.

Julaihi said projects regarding Internet coverage would be done from time to time, just like how it was with regard to road development.

“Sebuyau has become a main attraction for most folk from northern to southern Sarawak.

“We also have a few bridges, which are currently in the works, so we hope you give us some time.”
