KUCHING: The public should give time to the new federal Women and Family Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and Deputy Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff to settle down in their respective posts.
The advice came from the state Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah in response to criticisms directed at the two leaders.
They were criticised for their past records (some of which were considered controversial) which led some people to lose confidence in them to lead the ministry.
“Give them time to be briefed by the general secretary and department heads on the ministry’s mission, vision, objectives, responsibilities and the ministry’s plan under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
“Give them time to have engagement with strategic partners, inter-ministry, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the public for inputs, concerns, and needs,” she told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.
Fatimah further mentioned that the wellbeing of the women, children and community at large is a shared responsibility.
“Thus inter-ministerial, inter-department, Ministry and NGOs working strategically together as a wholesome and holistic team is the order of the day,” she said.
She added that it is good for the ministers to take note of the women’s group’ concern.
“The onus is on them. The federal leaders must prove to all Malaysians that they are sincere, fair, capable, competent, and outcome-oriented,” she said.
