KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching branch treasurer Jong Yean Pin has urged the people to make a wise decision in the coming 12th Sarawak state election (PRN-12) to give SUPP candidates the opportunity to serve the people of Padungan constituency.

“Together, we can rebuild and revive the vibrancy of Padungan to what it once was,” said Jong in a statement on Friday (Nov 26).

He said the SUPP Kuching branch had always served the people with its people-first principle.

“SUPP Kuching branch has been working diligently to serve the people despite not winning in the Padungan constituency for the last 15 years. We can see that Padungan has been quite stagnant, with not much development in progress,” he said.

He added that since the first Movement Control Order (MCO) in March last year, SUPP had been working non-stop with the Sarawak government to distribute food aid to people in need and it had continued the service to date.

Jong in collaboration with Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Kuching recently distributed food aid to households in need in the Lumba Kuda area.

“Due to the slow opening up of the economy even though we are in the third phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), some people still need assistance in their daily lives,” he said.

He explained that this food aid programme was a short-term measure to help those who are still experiencing hardship before they are able to achieve self-sustainable living.

“Therefore, this is not a long-term measure and must not be relied on too much as it is only intended to help people who are temporarily out of work,” he said.
